As Founder & CEO of Choice Healthcare, Eddie Chu has over forty years of experience in organizing high-performance teams in executive

and senior consulting positions at Ontario Lottery and Gaming, The Minto Group, Algoma Steel, World Vision Canada, Tembec, and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan. In 2003, Eddie’s father was stricken with lung and brain cancer and passed away at the age of 85 in 2005. His mother passed away at age 91 in April 2015 after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis. Eddie arranged care for his mother in her final months to provide respite for family members using his Toronto Choice Healthcare colleagues. While caring and arranging care for his father and mother, it became obvious to Eddie that government-funded care was often limited and navigating through our healthcare system required significant efforts and understanding. Choice Healthcare’s work and mission, therefore, resonate with them on a personal level as they address the growing importance of proper health management and care for the elderly.

Kelly has served as Director of Care in Healthcare since 2012. During this time, she built from the ground up Choice Healthcare’s 5-Star Google rated care team that has brought quality of life to hundreds of Ottawa families. Under her direction, the Choice Care Team provides “Customized Care for Every Need” from non-medical to specialties in challenging medical situations such as Alzheimer’s/Dementia, palliative, ALS, and Parkinson’s .
Before her service in Healthcare, Kelly took care of hundreds of residents in Ottawa’s Long Term Care facilities, hands-on and as Charge Nurse. She was instrumental in designing and launching a Gentle Care Unit for residents suffering from Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
Kelly is determined to continue improving the lives of clients by promoting high care standards and detailed procedures to ensure consistent excellence in caring for clients in safe working environments.

ileen Lacroix holds a BScN from Ottawa University and a MPA from Queen’s University. She brings to Choice Healthcare over three decades of extensive nursing career at The Ottawa Hospital in various health care specialties. She is fluently bilingual. She possesses a broad range of experience in Medical, Surgical, Renal, Pulmonary and Intensive Care, Coronary Care, and Cancer Care Nursing in both hands-on and executive roles. During the last six years of her nursing career, Eileen was the Manager of the In-Patient Medical Oncology Unit and the Out-Patient Program at The Ottawa Hospital, Cancer Centre. She retired from full-time nursing and management in 2007 and continued her involvement in health care projects with various organizations.

Maxie has been a Registered Nurse since 2014. She had the opportunity to provide one-on-one in-home nursing and this experience influenced her decision to provide personal care as a PSW regardless of her credentials. Ever since, Maxie has been putting her client’s needs first and focusing on how she could improve their lives.

Maxie carries this caring attitude to her work as a care coordinator with Choice Healthcare Ottawa starting in 2017. Her knowledge and hands-on care an in-home RN and caregiver help Maxie relate to each person she greets on the phone. Her main goal is to ensure the right caregiver goes to the right client at the right time, ensuring that our clients know that they will get the care they need.

With over 20 years of experience in administrative and management positions and a track record of strong performance in high-volume, high-pressure environments; Kelly manages administrative duties, recruitment, and employee relations for Choice Healthcare.
In this position, Kelly works closely with the Director of Finance/Operations and Director of Care to ensure the smooth operation of the company. She assists with the coordination of various projects and works to grow a strong team at Choice Healthcare. She plays a key role in continuing Choice Healthcare’s reputation as the Healthcare. Employer of Choice and sourcing the best caregivers in the Ottawa region.

Chris has been a Nurse since 2016 working in hospitals, long-term care, retirement homes, and complex and convalescent care units. Chris has additional training in sub-acute for the frail and elderly and frailty informed care. At Choice Healthcare, Chris consults with prospective clients, develops customized care plans, schedules services with families and clients, provides support to caregivers, and monitors client care.
Chris manages complex cases, provides medical care for clients, and supervises nurses and caregivers while collaborating with families, MDs, Case Managers, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Discharge Planners, and other professionals on the clients’ care teams. He ensures Choice Healthcare staff have the best information and support they need to bring their best to the clients they care for.
